Dateline: June 2, 2000

A sudden violent thunderstorm Friday evening damaged the Netcong substation causing an electrical outage that affected Netcong, Stanhope and part of Byram Township including West Brookwood.

According to GPU and Byram Township Police, 14,000 of GPU's costomers in the affected area were not going to have their power restored until early Monday morning.

Faced with a weekend without power, The West Brookwood Water Department rented a portable emergency generator in order to maintain water service to our water customers.
Dateline: July 10, 2000

In response to Association Members questions about the quality of the River flowing through our community, on June 1, 2000 Sussex County Health Department took a sample of water from the river.

According to Sussex County Health Department the water tests were all acceptable.

The installation of the Emergency Generator at River Road is complete and ready to provide power in case of an extended power failure.
Dateline February 7, 2001

Water pressure monitors were placed at Chestnut Street Well House and a residence on Mayne Avenue for a 5 day test period to gather data for future improvements to pressure issues of our high elevation water users.
Dateline February 12, 13, 2001

A  sudden water outage at approx 7:00 pm Feb 12,  was the result of a massive main pipe break that  occured on Beach Street. A contractor was called and a temporary repair was made to restore service for morning use. At 10:30 am on the 13, water service was shutdown to make a permenent repair by replacing a 18 foot section of pipe.

The street paving is completed and everything is now returned to normal.

March 29, 2001

After tracking increased water usage a leak was discovered on Roberts Court. A Contractor was called in and repairs made.


Dateline May 1, 2001

The Board of Directors has implemented a Scholarship Fund for a graduating senior. Applications are available in the following school guidance offices.

Lenape Valley Regional High School
Pope John XXIII High School
Sussex County Vocational Technical High School

You may also pick up an application at either Elaine Carr's home at 8 Broad Avenue or Wendy D'Ulisse's home located at 12 Beech Street. The deadline for all entries is June 1st. Good luck to all students who particiipate.

Safety vests are still available. They are $5.00 each, with a limit of two per household. They are made from lightweight polyester  and are a dayglow orange and yellow mesh.

Dateline July 11, 2001

On July 11, 2001 the special meeting was held at the Municipal Building for the purposes of finalizing the vote on changing the bylaws and the approval of the loan application for the New Jersey State Infrastructure fund.

Both Item #1 and Item #2 were approved by more than 51% of Members in good standing. In view of this result the Board of Governors will move foward to complete the steps necessary to secure the funding to accomplish the needed improvements to our water system.

Several small leaks dectected and repaired and a major problem with Well #1 Required the removal of the well pump and replacement of the entire pump to restore system integrety. Also an addition of a regulator valve is planned for Well #3
